Why do most of the poems here consist of depression? It's all moping, mascara, and poser goths these days. It's just a suggestion, but QUIT WALLOWING IN SELF-PITY AND WRITE SOME REAL POETRY. IT'S GETTING OLD.

People write what hey want, you dont like it dont read. I personally write sad poems because it is easier to make people realise the little beauty there is in the world.

Way to help yourself if you're sad, read more sad poems and write some yourself. I'm not saying all poetry is crap if it's depressing, it just gets annoying after a long time. And if you're so sad, why complain in poems? Do something about it and write poetry that will cheer you up, keep your spirits high. Because some depressing poems suck, and we don't need any more sucky poems.

Many people here have gone through periods of different feelings... They wrote about that and we could all read it... Yes, lately it has been on the sad side... But that's how life goes... Cliché, but true.
And btw, I know one or two poets who write the most amazing love poems.

Ah, wanderingsamurai, thank you.
"but it's what we feel inside" blech.
No, it's not. It's what you wish to express to the world to induce them into thinking that you feel that way. If you can drop the immaturity and see past the veneer of all this self-pitying nonsense, then maybe you could write something decent for once, instead of all this piss imagery and fake sadness written up in seconds to garner attention from fake internet personas.
Good day to all of you.

My poetry is really personal and I write it because it's therapy for the soul to write your very own thoughts and feelings on a piece of paper. There is nothing wrong with that, and if you think my feelings are fake, then just ignore them. There is no need in creating pointless threads bashing people for opening up their minds and being creative. (I am not accusing you for that, rather wanderingsamurai.) The worst thing in the world to me is self-pitying, and I would never show that through my creations. That is simply not the point in poetry, and neither do I think any of the other ones posting their poems here think it is.
So if you could drop the role of playing Square-Insider's supreme source of negativity and know-it-all-ism and see past your own plastic reality, then maybe you could start saying something nice for once, instead of just opposing every single opinion there is to oppose on these god damn forum boards to prove yourself superior to fake internet personas.

Some people write about the truth of their past, some people write about things of their future and some people write about the life they have found themselves in now.Its not like anyone has the right to judge what people write and some times... to pity ourselves is the only thing we can or want to do.I am not saying that it is a cool thing to do.I am just saying that it has to be done if we feel nothing else.
I dont think that you (Eyebrows) have the right to slag off the poets here on SI. Some of them are magnificently talented. I just long to be like the sumtimes as they write about brilliant stuff and they write things that are very real to them. And not all poetry is written in seconds it has taken me hours to write peoms and it can be impossible to finish some poems.

I have the complete and unwavering right to "slag off" all this tripe and all these petty excuses for poetry (you disgrace the art). And I will do it 1000 more times if necessary.
Mind you, I haven't bashed everything on here; some of it turns out to be halfway decent. But when it comes to poetry here, it just doesn't cut it. At all. There is more to the art than expressing your temporal (fabricated) feelings. It's about expressing something transcendent, lasting, and valid. Read into it more and maybe you'll understand.
And I make no apologies for being an elitist.

Of course there is more to art than just expressing temporal feelings, I'd even say there's more to art than just expressing emotions in general. (I agree that is mostly what it's about, but not always.) And I have no idea what poetry you are referring to here, but you can't judge all of SI's poetics just because the ones you have read have proven themselves to not suit you.
