i have 2 say even though he acts evil i think he has a hidden side (maybe.) i think its a shame he was twisted by such a horrible childhood. he never learnt to express his emotions in a decent way. his plot to kill humanity, which sounds evil, was his way of saving us. he didnt want us to hurt anymore. i think its comparable to suicide. people commit suicide because they are alone, depressed, scared. seymour saw us like this, and since he is virtually emotionless, he saw our emotions as a flaw, and painfull burden. he wanted us to be at peace. the only way he saw of doing this was death. he didnt know he was doing the wrong thing. he was doing what he thought was right. i feel what he feels really clearly, and i dont see why everybody else doesnt. i see him as a desparate person trying to rid the world of pain. helluin said that his childhood was no excuse to kill a well respected man and many others, but you must see that he is mentally insane! in his mind he was ridding his father of pain. a person with schitzophrenia cannot control it. they think what they see is real. apply thins to seymour. it isnt his fault he is twisted and insane. i must say though, even after all of that, sometimes i jsut wanted to stangle him. like at the wedding. poor yuna. he pretty much forsed a kiss apon her. and we all know he wouldve gone further. that wouldve been unforgivable. and although i sometimes love him and sometimes hate him, most of all i think he needs alot of hugs :) (and perhaps a rubber room)

i love Lord Seymour so much... i think its coz i relate 2 him.....poor yuna...
plz tell me what you think of Lord Seymour. i have 2 know :)

Seymour is a misunderstood villain with a troubled past. I don;t think him evil. He was born half-guado, mocked by everyone and seemed to live in Baaj Temple, so I'd doubt he had many friends.
Then his mother, in her infinite wisdom, turned herself into a giant fish just to give him power or some such nonsense.
Clearly this broke young Seymour's heart (and mind).
Sadly for Spira, he was smart and chose to kill his father to become a Maester, presumably so he could marry Yuna, become Sin and destroy Spira.
He was certainly mentally insane, but I get the impression that he did truly believe that by killing everything he would save them.
'To destroy, to heal Spira, I will become Sin.'

Yunalesca had vaguely similar ideas, yet she was sane ('Well... I will free you
before you can drown in your sorrow. It is better for you to die in hope than to live in despair. Let me be your liberator.' - Yunalesca. 'Allow Kimahri to die, and relese him from his pain.' - Seymour.)
While not directly similar, they both know that death is better than being alive, as when you are dead you cannot feel sorrow.

I have little idea what point I was trying to make here, but I'm posting this anyway. Interperet anything you want from it.

(Oh, and next time please use paragraphs and capital letters ;) )

Ok, first of all, he's a fictional character  But, being more creative, I suppose I agree with yourself and Sporks. He is physically and mentally insane, yet he has a valid view on life and death. Life is full of sorrow and pain. Why not end this? I tend not to think too much into this kind of thing. However, Sephiroth really interests me.

The Maesters knew what would happen to the summoners and the chosen guardian, and that Sin would come again and again. Seymour's mother gave up her life so that Seymour could continue that legacy; however, I believe Seymour had a different goal in mind. In the past, guardians who became Sin would try to resist Yevon's control. Seymour would do the opposite - not only would he not resist Yevon's urge to kill, but he would push forward and kill without Yevon's consent. I believe he discussed this ideology with his father, who then attempted to stop him. Seymour had to kill his father to further his plan. I believe his father didn't accept his death not because he was murdered by Seymour's hands, but because he knew of his son's intentions and didn't want to die with the situation unresolved, knowing full well that Seymour could accomplish this.

Seymour was not evil, and I think the game portrays this pretty well. His forefathers believed that life was worth living because of hope, despite the horror of Sin. Seymour viewed life as a constant series of tragic losses, all in the name of gratifying Yevon. The #1 cause of death is life. :)

I think it goes even further than that, though. Maybe he wanted to torture the higher-ups in the church of Yevon - even if he weren't aware of the truth of Yevon, he could tell that they were unsent. Somehow, I think he believed that if he became Sin, he could shut them off from the Farplane and cause them to live for eternity on an empty, lifeless planet. There's nothing in the game that supports this, I'm just speculating.

And, as per usual, it's a damn good speculation! ;)
