I just bought the game a while ago and already finished it. So what did you guys think?
When I bought the game I'd put into consideration, that its a kh spin off, that will probably be a retelling of the old games, However I quite enjoyed it for many reasons. First, I'v NEVER seen such awesome graphics on a DS, SQEX once again amaze me by how they can push consoles to the limits. Also, I liked how this game related really good to the kh series, maintained the kh feel to it and yet had its on impressions. Hence the daily routine atmosphere it has, it was kind of repetitive and a little boring sometimes, but that is actually what I liked, the fact that not every day is great. Another thing that I liked, is the emotional variety this game offers, the moody characters and the ups and downs that make it all more realistic. Also I really enjoyed the panel system and playing the multi-player mode.

Well when I got the game I expected it to have a very watered down version of KH2's gameplay, but I was surprised at how close it felt to playing the PS2 game. Controlling the camera is harder in the DS game, but that's about it. I also like the additions it added to the battle system in form of combos and Limit Breaks. And I thought the Panel system for leveling up was interesting. And how you get different rewards depending on how you complete a stage made them more replay friendly. But I haven't gotten too far in the game yet (around Day 77) so I can't say much about the story yet.

Yes, I have finished the game.
KH 358/2 Days is really awesome. Although I didn't expect much from the graphics, the gameplay is awesome. The camera controls are easier if you switch to Type B. The panel system is interesting and the story made me cry. I was impressed that I get to play my fave Org XIII members but I think that they lack abilities and such. But overall, boss fights take up the challenge, a variety of characters are impressive, so I might give it a 8/10.

To be honest, I think 358/2 Days is the weakest of the Kingdom Hearts games. I just didn't find myself enjoying it as much as the others.
The missions and gameplay style were really repetitive. Do x mission -> Return to Castle ->
have ice cream with Axel and Xion -> complete more missions to advance gameplay. I just think they could have come up with a few more missions than recycling the same ones over and over again. It was either destroy X Heartless, do recon, or collect hearts.
Secondly, the lack of exploration was very disappointing and made the game feel very linear. I don't like that whole "Organization XIII blocks off areas you aren't supposed to be in". I think that was very lazy on Square's part and made the game less fun. I felt like I HAD to go to specific places and missed the freedom of figuring out where to go. As much exploration as they limited in KH2, I still enjoyed it because they didn't seal off areas and tell you where to go. They just reduced the amount of exploration with more cutscenes.
Thirdly, the Panel System really wasn't that great. While it grants more strategic ways of doing missions, the fact that you have to equip your level ups tarnishes it. Sure, you can triple your levels and get up to 100; however, it takes up a lot of valuable space in your panels, thus limiting the amount of space you have. Completing more than what the mission asks for will get you more spaces, but the lack of exploration and fun put into the missions doesn't compel me to do extra.
Overall, I think 358/2 Days is pretty subpar compared to the rest of the games. I really didn't care for the GBA version of Chain of Memories either (ReChain was great), but even the GBA CoM is a lot better than Days. I think the graphics and soundtrack are terrific; however, they don't make a good game. Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days could have been a lot better. It may have had stunning visuals, an awesome story, and an epic soundtrack, but it fails with execution and gameplay, critical elements of a game that bring Days below the others. Honestly, I'd probably give it a 6/10. The other Kingdom Hearts were just so much better.

I got it for Christmas and I was amazed at the quality of the cutscenes, it was like on the PS2! The way I'm playing the games it that I'm actually playing them in the order of the plot-line of the game, even thought Days overlaps with KH1. I'm on day 303 I think.
I finally beat that effing Leechgrave the other day!!!
