Square Enix may in trouble if they dont have anything of what we would classify as a major project in the works at this moment. All the titles coming out at the moment are really not too exciting. We have Birth by Sleep...some DS games...and...? Final Fantasy Versus XIII? It has taken waaaayyyy too long. It was announced 4 years ago? They keep remaking stuff that we have no interest in seeing? They have remade FFs 1,2,and 4 sooooo many times. All the fans really want is Kingdom Hearts III, Final Fantasy Versus XIII, and Final Fantasy VII for PS3. Its not that hard. Especially now that there is a Kingdom Hearts game on almost every current generation platform aside from well, the actually good ones like PS3 or 360. IF Square keeps pumping out cash-in titles they are going 2 sell less and less games. Just a note from where I am right now....WHERE THE HELL IS MY FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE?? Im pissed that there is like nothing in the Square area for me to be excited about anytime soon!! Honestly their presence at E3 was disgraceful!!

This should count as a major project for now.

Final Fantasy XIII is not even out in the US yet, yet publisher Square Enix has already begun talking about what direction the game's sequel will take. The company has already apparently begun brainstorming about what kind of game Final Fantasy XV is going to be.

In the most recent issue of British gaming magazine Xbox World 360, Final Fantasy XIII producer Yoshinori Kitase reportedly said, "We’ve got a few ideas for Final Fantasy XV lined up, but there is no singular aim for where we want the series to go."

FFXIV releasing in November aside, SquareEnix simply doest need a mainline FF or KH every other year like they did a 4-5yrs ago.

They now have Eidos (aka SQEX Europe), with one of the biggest new IPs of the last few yrs in Arkham Asylum, a medium lvl IP with Kane & Lynch and the return of the Deus Ex series. Not to mention whatever reboot of the Tomb Raider series they have (not counting the Lara Croft game coming out for PSN/XBLA). They also continue to post strong results with their Taito games, I believe another new Space Invaders is due for DS sometime soon, the last one being a major success.

They really dont care what the traditional Squaresoft/RPG fan wants anymore, because their business model has changed from the days of the PS2. Their business model is now more in-tune with an Activision or EA.

Does anyone actually care about Final Fantasy XIV? Their buisness model cannot be compared 2 anything like activision. It has simply expanded. They simply used 2 focus on fewer projects and completed them quicker

lolol, just deal with the fact that you wont be playing any of those games until late 2011 at the earliest.
edit - and you will never play an FFVII remake.

Hey guy, since you know what the fans what and what it is that Square Enix should be doing and producing, I know nominate you as CEO of the company. Within a couple of days you should receive a complementary Chocobo to ride and Buster Sword.

Srsly as close as you will get to a VII remake is the PSN release. Just accept it.

I predict an FFXIII sequel with a Kinect/Move control system. And then FFXV for the 3DS, and then by the time FFXVI is released, Sony will have merged with Nintendo, and Microsoft will have gone bankrupt. The newly formed Sontendo (or Nony, if you prefer) will stop releasing hardware and will focus on browser game engines for facebook integration. By that time Zuckerberg will have blackmailed the entire world with personal data freely entered into his database and will have established himself as Primarch of Terra, his first act being the integration of facebook with every detail of our lives. FFXVI will be released for facebook, which basically means that it will just be a government database we use to file our taxes.
