I thought the original ending was terrible at first, but after a while I realized that I was still thinking chronicly about it almost a week later. I realized that it was indeed a good ending, because it both suprised me, and left me to make my own judgment.

The End of Evangelion was also great though. It gave me all of the crap I expected from the original. Although they did a good job, I still think they should have left it alone, and not done the second.

First of all you have to realize that the anime industry is a business for the most part and that Evangelion was a project by GAINAX to raise funds for another show they were planning to create. With this in mind, they tried to get the most money out of EVA as they could, hence why they made all those OVAs.

EoE was definatly necessary. Anno was drowning in hate mail from Eva fans in Japan (some of which you can actually see in the EoE movie), and he wasn't particularly satisfied either. Weather it was the better of the endings is up to the viewer.

Personaly, i think that the EoE ending was awsome, but they shoulda brought back Kaworu :(

The end was really weird. Although it didn't follow the regular endings of the good guy who always put the world back/save it etc. The guy wanted everything to end.

kinda true, but he wanted humans to be themselves again, to feel the pain that comes from not sharing a soul with others and struggling to understand them... he wanted to be able to feel love from a human perspective, not from that of an omniencompassing angel

it was Keel's wish that everything end

@:Samurai:Jatt: hahahahaha..... that's good, but one word: Berserker

EoE was a way to reveal more info, like Shinji being the "18th Angel" {As humans were the Lilim, making them technically demi-angels} who stopped the Comstructive Thrid Impact by refusing to "run away from life".

Both Evangelion & Gundam are great, two of the three meccas of mecha anime. In fact G-Gundam used some of Evangelion's elements{Pilot/mecha bond}, & such.

Of course it would be interesting if you could put these two in a blender to see what kind of giant-robo emerges from it. With the ferocity of a EVA & the firepower{And armor-upgrade} of a Gundam.

Ahhh, the end of evengelion. What a nightmare.
Although it was about the most confusing thing I've ever seen, it was actually more enjoyable than the rest of the show. It was actually created to start talk and rumors of what it is about and since I'm typing this right now, I guess it worked. I didn't enjoy it because of its clearity and sensible plot, but the sheer effect it gave was fun. It's a lot like FLCL in the sense that you really don't understand it but it's a hell of a lot of fun to watch. So, just draw your own conclusions on it and feel free to stick to them, no matter what anybody says. There's no definitive answer to what it means.
