Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children
Release Date: Fall of 2004/05

Warning: Being a sequel, this review will unavoidably contain spoilers for Final Fantasy 7.

Final Fantasy 7: Advent Children is a sequel to Square's most popular and best selling game, Final Fantasy 7. After much speculation, it has been confirmed to be a movie, not a game. However, this is not exactly like a real movie, It's an animated FMV sequence similar to those of Final Fantasy 10 and X-2.

The movie is expected to run somewhere between 70 and 80 minuutes (just over an hour) and will only be released on DVD (no cinema screenings). Popular Final Fantasy 7 characters Cloud, Tifa, Barret, Vincent, Red XIII, Yuffieand Cid have been sighted in trailers/screenshots and have been confirmed to be in the movie. There are approximately 20 characters in the movie with still many to be confirmed some new ones including the 3 silver-haired males who are seen fighting cloud.

Advent Children takes place 2 years after the end of Final Fantasy 7. So far it is known that main story revolves around 3 men, Kadaj, Loz, and Yazoo, so as most of the original Final Fantasy VII characters. Translations from Japanese scans show that they are the advent children . It also shows that people suffer from Star Scar Syndrome ( Geostigma ) and they have something to do with it. Children suffer from this illness the most. It looks like Cloud supposed to save those children and find answers why this is all happening.

As mentioned above, most of characters from Final Fantasy 7 return and play important roles in this movie. Due to advances in technology, this time around, characters are designed beautifully with new outfits. There are many new characters which are still not known such as the white-caped man in the wheelchair commanding the 3 silver-haired men. There are many theories regarding this person, including Sephiroth and even Aeris. One thing is known, theories like this will not be confirmed until you watch the movie. Square-Enix is keep tight-lipped about most of this movie and ensuring the plot is not leaked.

Being a full FMV movie, it's not hard to realize that this will feature quality graphics from start to finish. Working on conjunction with visual works, Square-Enix is working hard to ensure the quality of this movie is astounding. This is mainly the cause for the delayed release of the movie.

Advent Children is going to one of the biggest releases this year . The movie is expected to release worldwide at the end of 2004/05.

You mean "Bring Me To Life"? The Evanescence song? Blech, so sick of it.

Anyway, if we're going to go down this road, just try AnimeMusicVideos.org and search for "Advent Children" as the anime. There are plenty. I was even planning on making one once the movie came out.

I've made like three Dragonball videos (meh) and a Chrono Trigger/Cross video, but only two DBZ videos are on that site. One is "Only Vejita". The other, my personal favorite and my best work, is "Until The Ground Gives Way". I made another I really liked ("Undertaken") but I've yet to upload it because I'm lazy.

Ido, are you gonna give us places where we can preorder/order, AC when it gets closer to release? I've looked and I can't seem to find any, but then again I don't know any Anime purchasing sites.

I'm pretty sure you can preorder the movie at Ebgames or something. There was a news release not too long ago about it. However, it's not clear what the preorder is for, whether it's the big box o' stuff or just the movie itself.
