FFIX - Necron

As most of you know, Necron is the final boss of Final Fantasy IX, however it's making me think alot, why is Necron there? Why was he created at all? If Trance Kuja was harder and the very last boss, it would of made FFIX a whole lot better, but Necron just appears from nowhere, which makes the ending of actual gameplay pretty ghey.
What do you think? Surely none of you can disagree with the fact he was pointless, but maybe you can disagree with the fact that he should of been the last boss regardless of being pointless or not. But honestly, in my opinion it really does suck. Necron, pfft, makes me laugh why they made the whole FFIX storyline if Necron just comes in at the last second.

I hate it when the last boss doesn't relate to the game story.
He was almost as bad as Yu Yevon. Now THAT's a crappy last boss. Sure, the name Yu Yevon was brought up a couple of times, but who the hell imagined it would be a ball of foam? Made me wanna break the disc in two. P.O.S game.

OMG!!! YOU LIKE HIM!! IRL?? OMG!!! xD HIM owns so much. But the last boss did make sense. And I'm sure trance will be in here sooner or later to explain the story. So I'll let him explain. But he did fit in with the story, and I liked him. A nice extra boss at the very end. I viewed Kuja as the last boss really. He was a tad harder.

About Necron!
Necron is the embodiment of annihilation, a being who believes that the desire of all is to return to nothingness, a belief reinforced by Kuja's desire to destroy the Crystal. So in a way Kuja summoned Necron. You didnt even kill Kuja. He won the battle as everyone was knocked out cold. But the one who were fighting still had some in them. Enought to light up the sparkle of the other. Gaving them power to face Necron. Necron never even lost the battle. Necron isnt just like a mad being that just want to destroy. If he was like that he would of done it long ago. He just never knew for sure if that was the will of the ppl and wouldnt act against it. When the fight stop with Necron he question himself about the will to live and you see Kuja using his power to transport everyone away. Then use almost the rest of his strength to deal with Necron and then you see Necron vanishing saying that he will be back.

Let's break it down...
Life fears death, but lives only to die.
....
Anxiety becomes fear.
....
The only cure for this fear is total destruction.
These appear to be Necron's beliefs. But, if he (well, it) believes this, then why not destroy the Crystal as soon as life reaches the stage where it can feel these emotions?
Kuja was a victim of his own fear. He concluded he could only save himself by destroying the origin of all things- the Crystal.
....
Kuja's action proves [that] all things live to perish.
At last, life has discovered this truth. Now, it is time to end the world.
Also: When [Kuja] sought to destroy the Crystal, the purpose of life ended.
It appears that Necron will destroy the world when it is proved that the living have no further use for life. And how would he know this? By witnessing a living thing striking at the source of all life. He would then assume that this living thing was representative of all living things.
Your party and Necron fight, and then the colisseum starts to disintegrate.
Why defy your fate?
At this point, you are teleported out of Memoria.
Is the will to live that powerful...?
Necron was summoned by humanity's desire for self-destruction (as represented by Kuja). When your party defeats Necron, humanity (as represented by your party) is asserting its desire to live.
This is not the end.
I am eternal...
...as long as there is life and death...
Hmm... perhaps this has been played out before? Even if it hasn't, it implies that Necron will always be there, waiting for Thanatos to triumph over Eros...*
It strikes me as ironic that Necron exists to do the same thing that Kuja attempted to do- destroy the universe. Additionally, Necron also appears to have something of a will to live.
"Why defy your fate?" Necron's fate is bound to the fate of the living. If humanity chooses to end it all, then so does he. If humanity asserts its desire to live, then he capitulates. In these circumstances, 'Why defy your fate?' could be arranged as 'Why do I defy my fate?'
*Thanatos: death instinct.
Eros: creative force.
Strictly speaking, I shouldn't be using this term, since it's from Freud, and the Crystal is a very neat embodiment of Jung's idea of archetypes. But they were contemporaries, so
So he will spare him four-and-twenty years,
Letting him live in all voluptuousness...

I had no problem with Necron being in the game. His part was understandable and as Trance said, he was the embodiment of the desire to return to nothingness.
