FFXIV PS3 Delayed, Staff Replaced (UPDATE) |
|
Nothing is going right for Final Fantasy XIV. Poorly received by critics, the game's staff and fans are now paying the price for it's shortcomings. Nobuaki Komoto and Hiromichi Tanaka have been replaced by Naoki Yoshida (Record of Agarest War Zero, Cross Edge) as FFXIV's Director/Producer. SQEX will also be "hand-picking" a number of other developers to help right the ship. For PS3 fans the news gets worse, as SQEX President Yoichi Wada announced that the game will be delayed from its March 2011 launch window: "Regarding the PlayStation 3, it is not our wish to release a simple conversion of the Windows version in its current state, but rather an update that includes all the improvements we have planned. For that reason, we have made the difficult decision to delay the release of the PlayStation 3 version beyond the originally announced date of March 2011." You have to wonder if they can really fix a game that's already on the market~ UPDATE - A bit of good news, for those that have the PC version anyways; The game's free trial period has been extended indefinitely, with no plans to charge until SQEX determine FFXIV's future plans.
