Speculated on for the last few days, today the announcement made things official - Final Fantasy XIII-2 is real, and it will be here a lot sooner than you might think.

WATCH THE TRAILER (Trailer contains FFXIII Ending Spoilers)

Motomu Toriyama and Yoshinori Kitase return to helm the project, which features an armor-clad Lightning and a mysterious new male character.

The game is expected in December for Japan, and by March 2012 in the Us for both PS3 and Xbox 360~

What's with the feather in Lightning's dress? It reminds me so much of Yuna's wedding dress.

Lightning was my favorite protagonist even though 13 sucked hard. And they went and ruined her design, and the trailer is set to j-pop bullshit like most of X-2 was. Well, here we go again.

The armour reminds me of claymore. Her older design was better though.

They're turning Lightning into a jpop character just what they did to Yuna in X2 and Yuna also retains that feather in one side of the dress too. Is it a prerequisite for all main protagonist in FF sequels to wear a one sided feather extension in their dress? that really sux.

they've actually formally announced the game will have a darker tone than FFXIII and bear no resemblance to FFX-2's style.

they also said lightning would be like the female version of Cloud, but the only resemblance in character was that they are soldiers who use a sword. personality was quite different i think?

two characters that didn't like the situation they were in or people around them until later in the game? sounds like the same premise to me.

did people expect the same exact archetype?

The spikes are enough to make the whole cloud reference to me. They actually wanted Lightning blonde too, but later changed it to pink. I like that they are still different personality-wise.

Will Lightning's real name finally be revealed in this game?
Maybe have Lightning attack with the wing too?
